Hello,
My son played video games for an extended period of time tonight sitting in a dark room. He came up stairs and mentioned he can see a green spot in his vision. It’s in both eyes and moves when he moves his eyes. Doesn’t sound like it’s real big. I am assuming this is this is eye strain and he just needs to take more frequent breaks? Is that correct ?
Hello,
Welcome to Aries Clinic.
Can I have more details please?
How old is your son?
Does he have any vision problem other than the green spot? Any blurred vision? Watering of the eyes?
No, he has no vision problems.
He’s 10.
And no blurred vision and no watering
When was he last seen by his doctor?
Has he complained of similar spots of floaters in his eyes earlier?
Does he wear glasses?
He just has an eye checkup last week actually. All was normal but doc did mention a mole on the back of his eye.
He has never complained of any eye spots or floaters earlier
Thank you for your reply.
The green spot is an afterimage of the images from his video games.
It is normal to continue to see spots or images for some time after watching bright and flickering lights or images for a long time.
This is normal and will clear up in the next few hours.
Eye strain is a common cause of discomfort.
Please ask him to rest his eyes – lying down in a quiet and dark room for a few hours will help him to recover faster.
Yes, I thought so, as well. But I just wanted to be sure.
Thank you for your help.
You are welcome.
